Boko Haram: Borno residents laud Military operations in Sambisa

Residents of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, have lauded Nigerian security operatives for battling the Boko Haram insurgents at the Sambisa forests and other troubled local government areas in the state without killing innocent people.

Malam Yakubu Sani told DailyPost that with the recent operation at the Sambisa forest, the war against Boko Haram in the state would soon be over.

“From what we learnt, the military was able to destroy many insurgents’ camps at Sambisa and many terrorists were reportedly killed during the raid. Many of them, (Boko Haram members), who fled Sambisa are being arrested in Maiduguri and Monguno”, Yakubu told DailyPost.

He said since last week when the forest became too hot for the insurgents, he saw more than 20 terrorists that were arrested in the town by the members of the civilian JTF.

“About four days ago, specifically on Saturday, the civilian JTF has arrested 4 people in Siena bus with Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, along Biu road and handed them over to security agents”, he said.

DailyPost also gathered that more than 100 members of the Boko Haram insurgents, who fled military operation at Sambisa, (some of them badly injured), were arrested and are helping the military with vital information leading to the arrest of some other members of the sect.
